Cary & Co. ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we store and use it, who we share it with (including overseas), and how you can access, correct, or complain about the handling of your information. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

When you browse our store, place an order, create an account, or contact us, we may collect: contact details (name, email, phone, shipping/billing address); order information (items purchased, order value, personalisation details); payment information (processed directly by Shopify Payments and/or PayPal — we do not store your full card details); technical information (IP address, browser/device data, cookies); and any messages you send us.

2. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you place an order, sign up for our newsletter, create an account, or contact us — and automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you browse our site.

3. Why we collect and use it

We use your personal information to process and fulfil your orders (including passing necessary details to our fulfilment/shipping partners); communicate with you about your order; send marketing communications where you've opted in (you can unsubscribe anytime); improve our website and product range; and prevent fraud and meet legal/tax obligations.

4. Who we share it with (including overseas disclosure)

We share personal information only as needed to run our business, including with: Shopify Inc. (our e-commerce platform, which hosts our store and may store data outside Australia, e.g. the US or Canada); payment processors (Shopify Payments, PayPal); fulfilment and shipping partners and postal/courier carriers, who may be based in or ship from mainland China, Hong Kong, the United States, or other overseas locations; and marketing/analytics tools where used.

Because some providers are located overseas, your personal information may be transferred outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Data security and retention

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described here, or as required by law (including tax and record-keeping obligations).

6. Cookies

Our store uses cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, and understand how customers use our site. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work correctly without them.

7. Data breaches

If we experience a data breach likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme.

8. Your rights

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy; ask us to correct inaccurate or out-of-date information; opt out of marketing communications at any time; and lodge a complaint if you believe we have mishandled your personal information.

10. Children's privacy

Our store is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
